Estrogen & Progestogen use in Postmenopausal Women
Latest evidence on HT
The risk-benefit ratio for HT is favourable for women who initiate it close to the time of menopause, the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) says in an updated position statement.
While the potential absolute risks for use of HT are low, the risk-benefit ratio decreases in older women and with time since menopause, the NAMS says.
The new HT position statement offers the latest evidence pertaining to breast cancer, dementia, and coronary heart disease, and for the first time adds sections on ovarian cancer and lung cancer.
