The NHMRC has approved a new clinical guideline for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and older men.

 The guideline was developed by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners as part of a series on musculoskeletal conditions.

 All recommendations in the guideline have been graded according to the NHMRC evidence-based matrix, and it includes algorithms for diagnosis and management specifically in the Australian health care context.
