Media Kit
The Australasian Menopause Society (AMS) is the peak professional and scientific body in Australia and New Zealand for doctors and other health care professionals with a special interest in women's health in midlife and during menopause. The AMS also provides information to consumers on menopause and the various issues and treatment options related to the condition.
The AMS considers the media a key stakeholder in ensuring consumers and healthcare professionals remain informed about the latest healthcare issues, to enable them to make more informed decisions.
In recent years, there has been extensive media coverage on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) – also called hormone therapy (HT) – and the potential risks associated with this treatment.
The high level of media coverage on HRT has led to a decline in reporting on general menopause issues, in spite of there being an increase of evidence based information available to both consumers and healthcare professionals.
The AMS has developed this resource to assist you, the media, to gain a better understanding of menopause, its diagnosis and treatment options.
We hope this resource kit provides you with useful information to assist with your reporting, which will ensure that consumers are better informed and proactive in managing their health.
