Mission and Vision

The aim of the Australasian Menopause Society is advancement of knowledge about the menopause.

The importance of the menopause can best be comprehended when it is realised that there are over 2 million post-menopausal women in Australia, and that every year about 80,000 new women join this group.

These women constitute 40% of all health care visits in Australia.

The need to understand the various problems of the menopause, and their management is  a major issue to doctors, politicians, health care workers, and the community; particularly when it is realised that women are not only living longer, but that their numbers are increasing at a disproportionate rate.

It is hoped the Australasian Menopause Society will help bring together these people, be they doctors, nurses, paramedical or community workers who feel they would like to participate in communication and scientific discussions for the advancement of knowledge about the menopause.

All those with an interest in the menopause are encouraged to join the Society; and to participate and assist in the achievement of its aims.

The Mission of the Australasian Menopause Society

To improve the quality of life of women during and after the menopause.
