Australian Government funding to strengthen menopause education and care

Friday 30, Jan 2026

The Australasian Menopause Society (AMS) welcomes continued Australian Government funding to strengthen menopause education and support for health professionals across the country.

This funding, provided through the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, supports the delivery of evidence-based education and resources aligned with the National Women’s Health Strategy 2020–2030. Its focus is to build the knowledge, confidence and capability of health professionals to provide high-quality care for women throughout the menopause transition.

Over the next three years, this investment will enable AMS to expand its national education program. This includes delivering Menopause Essentials Updates in metropolitan and regional locations, supporting health professionals to attend the AMS Annual Congress, and offering webinars that address contemporary menopause care. Clinician-focused factsheets and guidance will also be updated and made freely available, ensuring trusted, practical information remains accessible where it is needed most.

Importantly, the program has a strong emphasis on reach and equity. Activities will support health professionals working in rural and remote areas, and those caring for diverse communities, including First Nations women, migrant and refugee women, women with disability, and LGBTIQA+ people.

At AMS, we know that better menopause care starts with education. By investing in health professionals, this grant will allow the Society to improve conversations, decision-making and outcomes for women at every stage of midlife. We are grateful for the Australian Government’s ongoing commitment to women’s health and look forward to working with partners across the health sector to turn this investment into meaningful, long-term impact.
